They called themselves Half-Moon Cookie and said that they were "out for a dido and a dawdle," whatever that meant. They wore a jester's outfit- the motley, the curl-toed shoes, and the fool's hat- all in stark blacks and whites, and carried a similar monochrome marotte that they used as a magic wand. He interrupted before they could finish, flashing them his badge and telling them to come along quietly. The cookie responsible somersaulted from the shadows and started casting some sort of spell. He put out a kitschy lawn ornament and waited. It gave Almond Cookie an idea of the prankster's area of operations, and therefore the ideal place for a stakeout. Upon investigation, it turned out that there were similar incidents on a smaller scale on select Parfaedian streets. After all, there were real emergencies they had to deal with, serious magical crimes they had to solve, so what right did some wizard jerk have to play these sorts of tricks and waste his valuable time? had to spend so much time sorting out the mess that finding the culprit became a bit personal for Almond. Hundreds of these bizarre swaps occurred in one instant all over the city. A flower pot on a resident's windowsill would be replaced by an electric mixer, a street lamp with a tea cup, a park bench with a beach ball. They were more along the lines of… nonconsensual trades. A few nights ago, a series of "thefts" swept through Parfaedia, but these weren't typical thefts. This case had been a nuisance since the beginning. The bright flash burned against the white of the pages, exasperating the headache he was rewarded after wrapping up his latest case. He turned on the lamp and started filling out his paperwork. Almond Cookie entered his office with a careless shove at the door, stumbling to his desk.
